Selector Live brings the sound of #SelectorRadio directly to music fans around the world with live shows from some of the UK’s most exciting artists.
Selector connects a global audience to the ever-changing sounds of UK culture, taking on a virtual tour of the UK, dropping into the heart of cities like Bristol, Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow.
Featuring JAMZ SUPERNOVA (Selector Radio / UK), HOLLY LESTER (Duality Trax / UK), DIHAJ and INHERROOM, this year's liveset brings a new eclectic theme - women.sound.waves., engaging, encouraging and bringing together the voices of talented women in contemporary music of the UK and Azerbaijan.
The liveset will take place at the Pullman Baku (Tower Residence 1), on 21 February 2020, 21.30. 100 tickets are available for purchase on an online iTicket platform, with the rest available at the the event venue from 21.00.

In addition, the British Council will host an intensive two-day Selector PRO training with TUGKAN MUTLU who will provide an insight and tools for producing music professionally on Ableton software. The workshops will take place at the YARAT Contemporary Arts Space on 20-21 February, from 11.00 until 17.00 (both days). Lunch will be provided during the sessions.
Jamz Supernova will also host a special two-hour Selector PRO workshop for DJs at the Pullman Baku on 21 February, 19.00.
Media representatives are kindly invited to the press briefing with the Director of the British Council in Azerbaijan, Mr. Summer Xia and our Selector PRO partners from iN Club, ASAN Radio and YARAT. The briefing will start at 12.00 on Thursday, 20 February at YARAT Contemporary Arts Space.
Attendees should be familiar with Ableton programme and bring personal laptops. Ableton software is an intuitive music production software and is tailored to the creation of electronic/dance music. The participants who will complete a two-day training by Tugkan Mutlu will receive certificates by the Director of the British Council in Azerbaijan, Mr. Summer Xia.

We play music from any band, any artist and any genre as long as it’s new and exciting. Jazz, grime, indie or electronica – or somewhere in between – each week we put together a truly eclectic playlist and catch up with the artists and labels who are leading the way in UK music. Here in Azerbaijan, the programme is presented by DJ BAZAUR on ASAN Radio 100FM, who selects the best tracks and insight from the UK show. ASAN Radio is a radio established by ASAN services within the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic in September 2015 and it aims to increase public social and legal awareness – and like every radio station, to inform and entertain its audience.
Selector PRO aims to provide both professionals and the general public with the fullest insight into music trends in contemporary society as well as the specifics of the British music industry. The event has evolved out of the Selector music programme, produced by the British Council, which includes a radio show and a series of Selector Live parties, which will bring the best new music from UK to Azerbaijani audience.
One of the leading next generation DJ’s from UK and keen agent for change, JAMZ SUPERNOVA is a passionate artist who graced the stages at Sonar, Parklife, Detonate, El Dorado, Nass, Farr, Lovebox, Beat Herder, Bestival, Ibiza Rocks, Lost & Found and is no stranger to the European circuit with regular slots away including Berlin, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Budapest, Barcelona, Porto, Paris, Amsterdam and Oslo. She is also the host of Selector Radio for UK since 2019.
HOLLY LESTER comes from the prominent electronic music hub of Ireland has already made quite a name for herself, making waves on the UK electronic music scene. The last half of 2018 alone has seen Holly perform her debut Boiler Room set at Belfast's illustrious AVA Festival, finishing the year with a residency at UK clubbing institution The Warehouse Project.
DIHAJ is an electronic music performer from Baku, Azerbaijan. With the members of her music group she’s producing quite eclectic and captivating music. That’s why they’ve never really been interested in trying to pinpoint the genre of the music they play. Just play what seems right and leave the rest to the listeners, right?
INHERROOM (Nazrin M) is another azerbaijani interdisciplinary artist whose practice is comprised on exploration of an experience itself. She is working in a variety of practices, including visual arts, sound-design, performance art, and also engages in a broader interdisciplinary inquiry in dialogue with other disciplines and systems of knowledge.
TUGKAN MUTLU is a producer, performer, promoter, graphic designer and teacher with over 10 years of experience in the creative industries. In that time he has performed across the UK and Australia, worked alongside artists DJ Chuckie, Nic Fanciulli, Rebuke to name a few. A resident of Bristol’s 1020 Radio and Mi Casa Su Casa, Tugkan currently works for music technology and production institute dBs Music. Outside of his work at the university, Tugkan is also an Ableton Trainer for Saffron Records.
iN/Sektoreight is about the development of the city through the electronic music scene. In 2019, iN also started iN Records, a techno label. iN is a leader of the electronic music scene and alternative recreation in Baku, having collaborated with artists such as Ten Walls, Sound Button, Boiler Room and more.
YARAT Contemporary Art Space is an artist-founded, not-for-profit art organization based in Baku, Azerbaijan, dedicated to contemporary art with a long-term commitment to creating a hub for artistic practice, research, thinking and education in the Caucasus, Central Asia and surrounding region.
