This month sees the first ‘pop-up’ demonstration of the new English Centre in state schools in Azerbaijan.
An English Centre is a place where language comes to life – a resource and study centre for school students and for English teachers, with a dynamic programme of activities, conversation clubs, skills classes, films, workshops, reading groups, interest groups, online materials – a place where you can learn, practise your English, get good advice, and have fun with English . It’s open to all students on one condition – that they speak only English in the English Centre.
To give an idea of how the English Centres will look and how they will work, we are opening a ‘pop-up’ demonstration centre in School 23 in Nesimi district, Baku and will invite teachers and students from the school’s neighbourhood to come and take part in all the different activities. Learn a new skill in English! Try out some award-winning English apps! Watch a short film and talk about it! Play games in English! Ask your questions about life in the UK to an English person! And gain confidence, motivation, and ability as you watch your English come to life through practice and communication.
