The British Council, in collaboration with Park Cinema, will organise a one-day Selector PRO workshop on Licensing and Copyright, bringing together the leading music practitioners in Azerbaijan on 29 January at Park Cinema Flame Towers.

The training will be held on January 29 at 12:00 and delivered by the UK editor, journalist and media entrepreneur Chris Cooke. He is a co-Founder and MD of CMU, a company that helps people navigate and understand the music business. It does this through media like the CMU Daily bulletin, Setlist podcast and CMU Trends library; through consultancy unit CMU Insights with its training courses, conference sessions and research reports; and through education programme CMU:DIY, which supports early-career artists and future industry talent. With degrees in English and Law, Chris regularly writes about, discusses and comments on the music business, intellectual property matters, and the media and communication sectors.

Summer Xia, the British Council Director in Azerbaijan, says:

Building on the success last year when we held a three-day Selector PRO workshop with Yarat contemporary Art Space for over 200 music professionals, I look forward to welcoming Chris Cooke to Baku to continue our long-term music programme this year and bring more benefits music professionals in Azerbaijan.

Selector PRO aims to provide both professionals and the general public with the fullest insight into music trends in contemporary society as well as the specifics of the British music industry. The event has evolved out of the Selector music programme, produced by the British Council, which includes a radio show and a series of Selector Live parties, which will bring the best new music from UK to Azerbaijani audience.

All media representatives are cordially invited to a media briefing at 11.30 on 29 January, at Park Cinema Flame Towers, 4th Floor.

The British Council in Azerbaijan would like to take this opportunity to thank Park Cinema for their support.
